The Room
My room was so clean and spacious! It had a huge map of Marseille above the bed which I loved, plus a private patio to enjoy the garden view. There is nothing better than waking up to lush greens and nature! I was lucky that my room was right in front of the pool too — the pool is covered overnight so the water stays clean and refreshing.
The hotel’s 18 rooms are each decorated in a different mood (there are 8 themes, from Haute Couture to Nature), all with garden views, AC, and quality bedding. Some rooms can be arranged as twins, and there are family rooms and a suite for bigger groups.
The Premises
There’s a sauna to relax in, gardens to wander, and an indoor living room with a piano and books. Bikes are available onsite to rent for roaming the area. Breakfast is served on site — homemade, enjoyed under a century-old plane tree on the terrace or veranda — and includes all the essentials. The closest restaurant is a 5-minute drive away.
The Location: Next to Calanques National Park
Hotel 96 sits between the Sormiou and Morgiou calanques, about 20 minutes from Marseille’s Vieux-Port. It’s genuinely the ideal base for hiking or boating in Parc National des Calanques — you can be at trailheads in minutes while sleeping somewhere quiet and green.
